On this 1-day authentic trek in Chiang Mai, we make the most of the day. It's a solid expedition, as the whole programme takes about 12 hours. You will go further off the beaten track, meet fewer people along the way and thus experience the real north of Thailand even better than in other tours.

The mountains, jungle, rivers and ethnic groups that have lived here for centuries make Chiang Mai a special experience. It all comes by on this one-day trek in Mae Jem. You will feed elephants and bathe with them, trekking to a waterfall and taking a bamboo raft ride across the river.

Meanwhile, our guide will show you the most beautiful sides of the jungle and you will visit the Karen, one of the most traditional hill tribes in this region.

The programme in brief: You will be picked up at your hotel between 6 and 6.30am. After arrival, you will first go to the elephant camp. You will help feed and bathe the elephants. After this, you will go on a 4 to 5-hour trek where the guide will teach you the secrets of jungle survival. Lunch will be prepared by the expeditioners together with the guide.

After lunch, you will go to a waterfall where you can swim and relax. To conclude this unique day, you will take a trip across the river on a bamboo raft. This will take about 30 to 45 minutes. You will be taken back to your hotel, where you will arrive in the early evening.

What should you bring? A towel, sturdy (walking) shoes, sandals, swimwear, toiletries (tissues for example), mosquito repellent, sunscreen, possibly a couple of plasters just in case.
