Dagprogramma
Day 1: Chiang Mai – Elephant camp
Washing elephants in the river In the morning you will be picked up at your hotel in Chiang Mai. Get ready for an unforgettable day. The elephant camp is just over an hour’s drive from the city. Here you change into traditional mahout clothing to get in the mood and to protect your own clothing against mud and water. First, you get an explanation from your guide about the elephants. You learn everything about being Mahout and how to take care of your elephant. You learn about the way of life of the Thai elephant. You help prepare a vitamin ball and real elephant shampoo, with which you will wash them later.
After this, you go out with the elephants and you can feed them and have them eat. You walk around the park. There you can give them a well-deserved mud bath (that is why you have received different clothes). You can then rinse them clean in the river and wash them with the shampoo you made in the morning. After this, it is time to help with planting grass and sugar cane to ensure that the elephants have enough food. What a beautiful day this is. Tired but satisfied you continue to an overnight location not far from the camp. Say goodbye to these friendly colossi. In the evening you have dinner included. Fall asleep with only the sounds of nature.
Day 2: Chiang Mai – Elephant camp
Jungle trekking Wakes up to the sounds of nature. After breakfast, you make trekking of about 3 hours through the jungle. Along the way is stopped several times to enjoy the beautiful views. During the trek, you will meet the local mountain people. The guide will tell you a few things about the customs and way of life of these special people.
Along the way, you visit a waterfall. Jump into the clear and cooling water or enjoy nature along the waterfront. You end up at the rafting camp where you descend the river with a bamboo raft. Relax after these two beautiful days. You’ll be back in the city in the afternoon.
